♦ South African cricketer Heinrich Klaasen has been signed by Sunrisers Hyderabad for the highest amount of Rs 23 million. Star batsman Virat Kohli and former West Indies captain Nicholson Pooran came second in this matter. Kohli was signed by Royal Challengers Bangalore for Rs 21 crore. Nicholas Pooran also remains at Lucknow Super Giants for the same price.
♦ A major problem with retention was that Rishabh Pant, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul and Faf du Plessis were not retained by their teams. All of them had captained their respective teams in the last IPL season. Under the captaincy of Shreyas Iyer, Kolkata Knight Riders also won the IPL 2024 title. Now these four big guns will enter the auction. Ishan Kishan, Marcus Stoinis and Jos Buttler will also enter the auction.
♦ On the other hand, Mahendra Singh Dhoni will play again next season. Dhoni, 43, has been retained as a non-international player. Let us tell you that according to the new IPL rules, if any Indian player has not played international cricket for more than 5 years. So he will be considered a player without limits. In such a situation, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) has retained Dhoni in the team as an uncapped player. Fast bowler Sandeep Sharma, who has played for India, has also been signed by Rajasthan Royals as an uncapped player.
♦ Rinku Singh has been signed by Kolkata Knight Riders for Rs 13 crore. Rinku Singh’s salary in IPL 2024 was Rs 55 lakh, but now his salary has increased manifold. Fast bowlers Mayank Yadav and Mathisha Pathirana also made big gains. Mayank has been signed by Lucknow Super Giants for Rs 11 crore, while Pathirana has been signed by Chennai Super Kings for Rs 13 crore. Mayank and Pathirana’s previous IPL salary was Rs 20 lakh each.
♦ Punjab Kings will have the highest amount of Rs 110.5 million in the IPL auction. Punjab had retained only two players (Shashank Singh and Prabhsimran Singh) before the auction. On the other hand, Royal Challengers Bangalore has Rs 83 crore left in its purse, which is the second highest. Rajasthan Royals will have the lowest purse (Rs 41 crore) in the auction.
