Election activities have intensified in Maharashtra. Elections for 288 assembly seats in the state will be held on November 20. The grand alliance formed by the BJP, Shiv Sena (Shinde faction) and Ajit Pawar’s NCP intends to return to power. At the same time, Maha Vikas Aghadi, comprising Congress, Shiv Sena (Thackeray faction) and Sharad Pawar’s NCP, also claims to form the government.
Amid the electoral enthusiasm, C-Voter has conducted a survey. This survey has revealed that majority of the people of Maharashtra now want a change. He is not happy with the current Shinde government.
51% of those surveyed by C-Voter are not happy with the work of the Shinde government and want to change the government. At the same time, there are 41% who are happy with the job and do not want to change governments. This can be a cause of problems for the Shinde government, because most people believe that they are unhappy and that change is necessary.
However, despite this, 52.5 percent of respondents rated the development work of the Shinde government as good. While 21.5 percent of people rated the work as normal. At the same time, there are 23 percent of people who rate the work as bad.
Not only this, 51 per cent of the respondents agreed to re-elect the sitting MLA. Whereas, only 30 percent of the people will not re-elect the sitting MLA.
What is the biggest problem?
What is the biggest problem in the eyes of the people of Maharashtra? Questions about this were also asked in the C-Voter survey. It has come to light that the biggest problem in the eyes of the people of Maharashtra is unemployment.
25 percent of people surveyed said unemployment was the biggest problem. At the same time, 19 percent mentioned farmers’ problems, 16 percent said inflation, 12 percent said electricity, water and roads and 6 percent said women’s safety. It’s a big problem.
Who is chosen for Chief Minister?
There is a contest between current CM Eknath Shinde and former CM Uddhav Thackeray as the new Chief Minister of Maharashtra.
27.5 per cent of the respondents want to see Eknath Shinde again as Chief Minister. At the same time, 23 per cent of the respondents prefer Uddhav Thackeray. While 11 per cent people have named Devendra Fadnavis, 6 per cent Sharad Pawar and 3 per cent Ajit Pawar as their first choice for Chief Minister.
Survey shows Devendra Fadnavis’ popularity is declining. There was a time when Fadnavis used to be the first choice for Chief Minister, but now most people have chosen Eknath Shinde as their first choice.
What issues are effective in elections?
Most people are unhappy with the current government and 30 per cent are also unhappy with the work of the current MLAs. When the question was asked, which issue is most effective in elections? So most people considered Maratha reservation to be the most effective issue.
Marathas constitute 38 per cent of the population of Maharashtra. Maratha reservation remains a big problem. There were also movements that demanded reservations. 23 per cent of the respondents described Maratha reservation as an effective issue. At the same time, 12 percent of people consider the performance of the Modi government to be effective.
Which scheme will get votes?
The Shinde government had recently founded the Ladki Bahin Yojana. Under this scheme, an assistance of Rs 1,500 is provided every month to women between the ages of 21 and 65, whose annual income is less than Rs 2.5 lakh. This scheme of the Shinde government is proving to be an important factor in the distribution of votes.
45 per cent of the respondents agreed that Ladki Bahin Yojana will help in the distribution of votes. After this, 15 per cent adopted the name Mahashetkari scheme. Shetkari Yojana is similar to Kisan Samman Nidhi, under which farmers receive financial assistance of six thousand rupees annually.
How effective is the Ajit Pawar factor?
In the Lok Sabha elections, the Mahayuti alliance could not perform as expected in Maharashtra. Mahayuti could only win 19 of the 48 Lok Sabha seats in the state. While India Block managed to win 28 seats here. Ajit Pawar’s party was held responsible for this Mahayuti rally.
When this question was asked in the survey, would the BJP’s performance have been better if Ajit Pawar had not been with it? On this, 49 per cent agreed that if Ajit Pawar had not been with him, the BJP’s performance would have been better.
Elections in Maharashtra are on November 20
Voting for 288 assembly seats in Maharashtra will be held in a single phase on November 20. While the results will be announced on November 23.
In the last elections, the BJP won 105 seats, the Shiv Sena 56, the NCP 54 and the Congress 44. However, after the elections, the Shiv Sena broke away from the NDA and formed the government with the NCP-Congress. Uddhav Thackeray of Shiv Sena became the Chief Minister.
There was internal discord in Shiv Sena in June 2022. Following this, Eknath Shinde sacked 40 MPs from the party. Eknath Shinde became Chief Minister with the support of the BJP. Now Shiv Sena is divided into two groups. Sharad Pawar’s NCP has also split into two factions: Sharad Pawar and Ajit Pawar.
