An explosion occurred in Mastung district of Balochistan on Friday morning. According to information received so far, seven people, including five children and a police officer, died, while 17 people were injured. Kalat divisional commissioner Naeem Bazai said the explosion took place near Mastung civil hospital around 8:35 am. He said that, at first glance, it appears that an EID (Improvised Explosive Device) attached to a motorcycle was detonated near the police vehicle.

The people injured in this incident have been admitted to two hospitals for treatment. These included Nawab Ghaus Baksh Raisani Memorial Hospital and Mastung District Headquarters Hospital, of which 11 people were shifted to Quetta Trauma Center when their condition became critical. Most of them include children.

Condition of 5 people serious

Among those taken to the Quetta Trauma Center are a five-year-old girl and a boy. According to the list of patients published by Quetta Trauma Center Director General Arbab Kamran, the condition of five out of 11 people is very serious. Commissioner Naeem Bazai said the deputy commissioner and deputy commissioner are monitoring the situation in hospitals. He stressed that the police have cordoned off the area to prevent similar incidents from occurring again.

Damaged police van and auto-rickshaw

Earlier, Mastung district police officer Miandad Umrani had said that four policemen were among the injured. He also said that the age of the deceased children was between five and 10 years old. According to the DPO, a police van and several rickshaws were damaged due to the blast. Footage emerged from the scene of the incident, showing police and others gathered near a burnt police van.
