India cancels intra-team match: India has taken a big decision ahead of the Australia tour. The team management has canceled the three-day match with the ‘A’ team. In fact, the Indian team wants to focus on additional net practices. The first Test between India and Australia will begin on November 22 in Perth.
The Indian team will focus on network practice.
The Indian team was scheduled to play a practice match against the India A team captained by Ruturaj Gaikwad in Perth between November 15 and 17. India A team is currently in Australia for an unofficial test series. News agency PTI has learned that coach Gautam Gambhir and some senior players want to spend more time in the nets.
The Rohit Sharma-led team will travel to Australia after losing the series at home to New Zealand. There will be added pressure on the Indian team aiming to win their third consecutive Test series in Australia as a place in the World Test Championship (WTC) final is also at stake.
It is understood that the WACA pitch is like the Perth Stadium pitch, so top-order batsmen would like to spend more time on the pitch. In such a situation, intra-team matches will not help because if a batsman gets out early, he will not have time to return to the field.
The Indian team had played practice matches in the last two tours of Australia. While in South Africa last year, before the Boxing Day Test in Centurion, the teams had matches against each other in Johannesburg.
The Indian team has to tour Australia this month where it will play a five-match Test series against the host team. The Indian selectors have selected an 18-member team for the tour of Australia. Additionally, three fast bowlers have been selected as reserves.
Indian team for 5-match Test series against Australia: Rohit Sharma (captain), Jasprit Bumrah (vice-captain), Yashasvi Jaiswal, Abhimanyu Easwaran, Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, KL Rahul, Rishabh Pant (goalkeeper), Sarfaraz Khan, Dhruv Jurel (goalkeeper), R Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Mohammed Siraj , Akash Deep, Prasidh Krishna, Harshit Rana, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Washington Sundar.
