Where is this temple?

An ancient and huge Maa Kali temple is situated in the Mehrangarh Fort. The statue of Mother Chamunda was installed in the foothills of Mehrangarh. With the establishment of Jodhpur, this temple was established in the Jodhpur Fort on Mehrangarh Hill. Mother Chamunda Devi was worshiped as the Kuldevi of the Parihars of Mandore about 561 years ago.

That during the Indo-Pak war of 1965 and 1971, Mother Chamunda protected the people of Jodhpur by turning into an eagle when the bomb fell on Jodhpur. Apart from this, it is said that on August 9, 1857, lightning struck a gunpowder pile near Gopal Pol in the fort. During this time the temple was destroyed, but the temple idol was not even scratched. Therefore, people of Jodhpur consider Mother Chamunda as the protector of Jodhpur.

Devotees spend twelve months to visit this temple of Maa Chamunda. The main temple of Maa Chamunda was duly built by Maharaja Ajit Singh. The Rathod descendants of Marwar consider the eagle to be the form of Mother Durga. The mother had said in her blessings to Rao Jodha that as long as the eagles continued to hover over the Mehrangarh fort, no calamity would befall it. Apart from this, people believe that the Mother Goddess fulfills all the wishes of the devotees who come to this temple.
