Anmol, brother of Lawrence Bishnoi
The Crime Branch of the Mumbai Police has started the extradition process to bring back from abroad Anmol Bishnoi, brother of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, who is jailed in the case of the shooting incident at actor Salman Khan’s house. A senior official said the Maharashtra Control of Organized Crime Act (MCOCA) court has already issued a non-bailable warrant for the arrest of Anmol Bishnoi, and a red corner notice has also been issued to search for him abroad.
A red corner notice is a request to Interpol member countries to locate and arrest a wanted criminal. A crime branch official said that apart from the court order, the police need court documents to formalize the extradition process. The MCOCA court approved the crime branch’s application on October 16 and the police are hopeful of obtaining the necessary documents soon.
What did the police say?
To take further action, the Mumbai Crime Branch has sent an extradition request of Anmol Bishnoi to the Central Government. Police say that in addition to the court order, they will also have to ask the US court for permission. Only after this will Anmol Bishnoi’s arrest be possible. However, the MCOCA Special Court did not approve it until October 16. After receiving some important documents, the police will request the Central Government to take action in this matter.
