The India Bloc has officially announced the distribution of seats among its allies in Jharkhand. JMM (Jharkhand Mukti Morcha) will contest the elections with a total of 43 seats. JMM will field its candidates for 23 seats in the first phase and 20 seats in the second phase.

The Congress won 30 seats.

CPI-ML has won three seats. But in Dhanwar, both CPI-ML and JMM will field their candidates against BJP’s Babulal Marandi and there will be a friendly contest between them. RJD will field its candidates in 6 seats.

After JMM, Congress got the maximum number of seats. The party will contest the elections for 30 seats. Tuesday was the last date for nomination in Jharkhand. On Tuesday, 297 candidates filed their nominations for the second phase of elections for 38 seats. The scrutiny of the papers took place on October 30 and the deadline to withdraw nominations was until November 1.

BJP removes Gamaliel Hembram from Barhet

BJP candidate Gamaliel Hembram on Tuesday filed his nomination from Barhet assembly constituency against Chief Minister Hemant Soren. After the nomination, Hembram said that contesting the elections against the Chief Minister is a challenge but the people of Barhet have decided to accept this challenge. He said people in the area are still struggling for basic services such as roads and clean water.

On Monday, the BJP had declared Gamaliel Hembram as its candidate from Barhet. Earlier, Hembram had contested the 2019 assembly elections on AJSU ticket and stood fourth. Soren is an MLA from Barhet (ST) constituency of Sahibganj district. He won the 2019 assembly elections by defeating BJP leader Simon Malto by 25740 votes. Soren contested the 2019 elections from two seats, Dumka and Barhet, but later abandoned the Dumka seat.

The elections will be held in two phases

Elections for 81 seats in Jharkhand will be held in two phases on November 13 and 20. In the first phase, 743 candidates are competing for 43 assembly seats. In Barkagaon, Jamshedpur West and Hatia constituencies, a maximum of 28 candidates have filed nominations, while in Kharswan, at least 10 candidates have filed nominations. The counting of votes will take place on November 23.
