Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Arvind Sawant, who made controversial comments about Shiv Sena leader Shaina NC, has apologized. He said: I have never insulted any woman in my life. He said that I have always been a leader in respecting women and I have many examples of this. He further said that my views are being misrepresented and that I am being deliberately attacked, which has harmed me; If anyone has felt hurt by my statement, I express my regret. I have never insulted any woman nor will I in the future.

While defending himself, he said was any action taken against the comments made by Ashish Shelar on Mumbai Mayor Kishori Pednekar? Was any action taken against what Abdul Sattar said about Supriya Sule? He said that attempts are being made to take political advantage of his statement.

The Women’s Commission responded

The election atmosphere heated up after Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Arvind Sawant in his statement termed Shaina NC, candidate for Shiv Sena’s Mumbadevi Assembly seat in Maharashtra, as an “imported product”. Following this statement, National Commission for Women chief Vijaya Rahatkar demanded action from the police and the Election Commission. Clarifying this, MP Sawant said that his words are being misinterpreted. While Shaina NC said Sawant’s comment reflects the mindset of Uddhav Thackeray’s party.

FIR registered

Following this statement by the MP, an FIR was registered against him. The police officer said that based on the complaint of Shaina NC, a case was registered under section 509 of the Indian Penal Code (word, gesture or sound intended to insult the modesty of a woman) and section 354 (2 ) (defamation). registered at Nagpada police station. Shaina NC was previously with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and recently joined Shiv Sena, led by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. She is contesting the assembly elections from the Mumbadevi seat in Mumbai, where she is contesting against Congress’ Amin Patel.
