Ayodhya. On Yam Dwitiya, devotees worshiped Yamraj at Yamthara Ghat in Ayodhya after taking the Saryu bath. A crowd of devotees started gathering at Yamthara Ghat since morning. According to belief, worshiping Yamraj at Yamthara Ghat on the third day of Diwali frees one from the fear of death. On this day, there is also a tradition of immersing the idol of Ganesh Lakshmi in the Saryu River.

Mahant Awadh Kishore Sharan said that as per stories, Yamraj asked for a place to stay here from Ayodhya city. About which the city of Ayodhya had given this place to Yamraj. Since then this ghat is known as Yamthara Ghat. He said it is believed that by bathing and worshiping Goddess Yamadwitiya here, one is freed from the fear of hell. By bathing on this day a person is freed from all sins.

A large number of devotees had started gathering at Yamthara Ghat since morning to bathe and worship. During this time a fair was organized at the ghat. Where people did a lot of shopping along with food.
