Controversy continues over seat sharing at Maha Vikas Aghadi
The Maharashtra Assembly elections will be held on November 20, but the issue of seat sharing among the constituent parties of the state’s main opposition alliance, Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA), is yet to be resolved. The dispute continues over about 10 seats. Uddhav Thackeray’s Shiv Sena-UBT is not willing to accept less than 100 seats, but the Congress is not willing to give so many seats.
NCP-SP insists on finalizing the distribution of seats today
Since the seating arrangement is not final, the time of the joint press conference has not yet been decided. To avoid making the seat-sharing dispute public, a secret meeting of some MVA leaders will be held in Mumbai starting Wednesday afternoon. Work on seating arrangement 99 percent complete: Raut
Earlier, Shiv Sena-UBT Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Raut said that 99 per cent work on distribution of seats among MVAs has been completed. Raut also hinted that his party could contest for 100 seats. Top leaders of the opposition MVA alliance met in Mumbai on Tuesday night and hinted that the distribution of seats for the assembly elections was now finalised. Especially after talks between Shiv Sena (UBT) and Congress stopped, state Congress leader Balasaheb Thorat on Tuesday met first Nationalist Congress Party (Sharadchandra Pawar) president Sharad Pawar and then with Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray. Later, Thorat and other MVA leaders held another meeting, which lasted several hours, at a hotel here. The leaders of the three parties had an in-depth debate on the distribution of seats that continued well into the night on Tuesday.
