Bhai Dooj 2024 Tilak Muhurat: The five-day festival of lights ends today with Bhai Dooj. On this day, sisters apply Tilak to their brother and pray for his long and happy life. According to the Hindu calendar, Bhai Dooj is celebrated on the second day of Kartik Shukla Paksha. Today the most special time of Bhai Dooj is from 1:10 p.m. to 3:22 p.m. After this, Rahukaal will begin.
Sisters should keep these things on the plate.
While performing brother’s Aarti on Bhai Dooj, sister’s plate should contain vermilion, flowers, rice grains, betel nut, betel leaf, silver coin, coconut, flower garland, sweets, Kalava, Doob grass and banana. Without all these things, the festival of Bhai Dooj is considered incomplete.

On the occasion of Bhai Dooj, sisters decorate plates for brother’s tilak and aarti. It should contain ingredients like kumkum, vermilion, sandalwood, fruits, flowers, sweets and betel nuts etc. Before applying tilak, make a square with the rice mixture. The brother should be made to sit on this square of rice and the sisters should do their tilak at the auspicious time. After doing Tilak, give flowers, betel leaves, betel nuts, batasha and black gram to your brother and perform his aarti. After Tilak and Aarti, brothers must give gifts to their sisters and promise to always protect them.
Don’t Make These Mistakes In Bhai Dooj (Bhai Dooj Precautions 2024)
1. In Bhai Dooj, sisters should not accept any of their brother’s tilak as doing so is considered inauspicious.
2. Sisters should keep in mind the auspicious time for doing Tika on this day and should avoid doing Bhai Dooj during the Rahu period.

How to worship Yam Dev? (Bhai Dooj 2024 Yamraj Puja)
On Bhai Dooj, at night, keep an earthen pot filled with water on the left side of the house. Light a four-sided lamp with mustard oil on top. Pray that everyone who lives in the house may live long and be healthy. The next morning, sprinkle the Kalash water in all corners of the house.
Mythological Story (Bhai Dooj Katha)
According to a mythological belief, Yamuna had fasted that day for the long life of her brother Yamraj and had given him Annakoot food. According to the story, Lord Yama appeared to his sister that day. Yama’s sister Yamuna was very eager to meet her brother. Yamuna was very happy to see her brother. Yamuna was happy and gave a grand welcome to her brother. Yama was happy and gave him a blessing that if brother and sister bathed together in the river Yamuna on that day, they would obtain salvation.
For this reason, bathing with brothers and sisters in the Yamuna River is of great importance. Apart from this, Yama and Yamuna accepted their brother’s promise that on this day each brother should go to his sister’s house. Since then the tradition of celebrating Bhai Dooj continues. The sisters also fast on Bhai Dooj, i.e. Yam Dwitiya, to please Yamraj.
