Bagless, wandering for 10 days and carpenters and gardeners will take classes… Teaching in schools will change a lot in Delhi: 10 days without bag in Delhi schools with an aim to make learning more joyful, stress-free and experiential for students

No bag policy will be implemented in Delhi schools. According to the National Education Policy (PNE) 2020, students will not have to carry bags on different days for a total of 10 days, which will ease the burden on their shoulders. The new rules will give students more time to play, recreate, and engage in any other work based on their interests. Which can be considered a very important step for the comprehensive development of children. The Directorate of Education (DoE) has issued guidelines on 10 days bag-free in Delhi schools.

Guidelines have been issued for students of classes six to eight in public and private schools in Delhi. The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has prepared the guidelines as per the recommendation of the National Education Policy 2020.

A circular issued by the Directorate of Education says: “Under these guidelines, students can visit historical monuments, cultural sites, craft centers, tourist destinations and many other places. They can meet artists and craftsmen, learn about various concepts and traditions.” and help them understand the importance of preserving heritage.

The circular says that activities for students can be chosen in such a way that the resources available in the school can be utilized to the maximum. “Bag-free activities organized through the Happiness Curriculum or during visits may be incorporated into bag-free days.”

As per the previous notification issued by the Ministry of Education, on Bagless Days, all students will get a chance to take a fun course during classes 6-8. These courses will provide sample surveys and practical experience in vocational trades such as carpentry, electrical work, metal work, gardening, pottery, etc., based on local level skills decided by states and local communities. The ministry said that all students will participate in a 10-day bag-free period sometime during classes 6 to 8, during which they will undertake internships with local vocational experts such as carpenters, gardeners, potters, etc.
