First day of assembly session in Jammu and Kashmir, PDP MLA’s proposal against 370 repeal, CM Omar said: it has no importance

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah

Today was the first day of the assembly session in Jammu and Kashmir. The president was elected today. On the first day of the session, PDP MLA Waheed ur Rehman Parra moved a resolution against the abrogation of Article 370. BJP MLAs opposed this proposal. After this, there was a great commotion in the house. Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said the proposal against Article 370 is of no importance.

CM Abdullah said that if there was any reason behind this, he would have discussed it with us first. We knew that a member was making preparations for this. The reality is that the people of Jammu and Kashmir do not accept the decision taken on August 5, 2019. If they had accepted this, today’s results would have been different. No member will decide how the House will consider this.

This proposal has no importance – CM Omar Abdullah

CM Abdullah said that the proposal presented today by the PDP MLA has no importance, it is only for the cameras. If there was any purpose behind this, they would have discussed it with us first. After this he asked the President to adjourn the session. After this, the Speaker adjourned the Assembly.

Article 370 was removed from Jammu and Kashmir in 2019

On August 5, 2019, the central government repealed almost all the provisions of Article 370, which granted special privileges to the people of the state of Jammu and Kashmir. With the removal of Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir, the special status and statehood of Jammu and Kashmir also ended. With this, Jammu and Kashmir was divided into two union territories.
