Police and security forces continue to score successes in the ongoing campaign against Naxalites in Chhattisgarh. Meanwhile, the terror of the Naxalites has also been coming to the fore. The latest case is from Naxal-affected Sukma district. Plainclothes Naxalites attacked a weekly market with knives on Sunday morning and injured two police officers. An officer gave information about the incident.
Escaped after looting AK-47 and SLR
The officer said that after the attack, the Naxalites also snatched the government rifles from both the policemen. He said the incident took place when the policemen were deployed on security duty at Jagargunda village market. The police officer said that a Naxalite action team, usually consisting of four or five cadres, suddenly attacked constables Karatam Deva and Sodhi Kanna with sharp weapons and then looted their AK-47 rifles and an SLR and fled.

He said other security personnel deployed there immediately swung into action and started searching for the attackers. The two injured officers were initially admitted to the local hospital. He was later flown to Raipur and admitted to a private hospital, the official said. Both officers are posted at the Jagargunda police station. A doctor who treated the injured police officers said that the condition of both is out of danger. There are 7 districts including Sukma in Bastar division.
