Why is Dev Diwali celebrated?
According to legend, there was a demon called Tripurasura who by the power of his power had taken over the three worlds, including heaven. Even the devotees were worried by their terror. Then all the gods came to Lord Shiva and prayed for his help. After this, Lord Shiva killed Tripurasura. In joy at the end of Tripurasura, all the gods reached the abode of Lord Shiva, Kashi, thanked him and lit lamps on the banks of the Ganges. It is said that since then this day became known as Dev Diwali. Let us tell you that the day Tripurasura was killed was the full moon date of the Shukla Paksha month of the Kartik month.

According to the Hindu calendar, the full moon date of Kartik month will begin on November 15, 2024 at 6.19 am Purnima Tithi will end on November 16 at 2:58 am. Dev Diwali will be celebrated on November 15, 2024.
Importance of Dev Diwali
According to religious beliefs, on the day of Diwali, the gods come to earth to celebrate Diwali. That is why it is called Diwali of the Gods. It is said that every year on the day of Dev Diwali, the gods come to Kashi, the city of Lord Shiva, to light lamps on the banks of the Ganges. On this day, lamps are lit from Ganga Ghat towards temples and homes to welcome the gods. Worship of Lord Shiva has a special significance on the day of Dev Diwali.
