Wife undergoing treatment in hospital
In Jharkhand, a husband has crossed all limits of cruelty and tarnished the sacred relationship between husband and wife. While the husband was drinking, he quarreled with his wife and in a fit of rage, attacked the wife with a sharp weapon. In the attack, the wife’s hand was cut off. After the incident, the husband picked up the severed hand and ran away from home. His wife was taken to the hospital in critical condition where she is receiving treatment.
This incident of brutality took place in Lohanda village under Jirwabari police station area in Sahibganj district. The accused husband, Bir Munda, a resident of Lohanda village, cut off the hands of his 20-year-old wife Lakshmi Devi with a sharp weapon.
The injured wife, Lakshmi, a victim of her husband Bir Munda’s brutality, said she had reached Sahibganj from Tamil Nadu only two or three days ago. While living in Tamil Nadu, she learned to sew and weave. Meanwhile, on Saturday night, her husband Bir Munda and a villager named Pratap Oraon returned home together. After this, the victim’s husband told his wife Lakshmi that he wanted to drink alcohol and give her vegetables, but the victim took out the vegetables and gave them to her. After drinking alcohol, her husband Bir Munda started asking his wife Lakshmi for money to gamble.

When Lakshmi refused to give the money, the husband became furious. The accused Bir Munda started beating his wife. After some time, he also involved his friend in the fight and asked him to cut off his wife’s hand. After this, both of them cut off Lakshmi’s hand with a sharp weapon. Husband Bir Munda’s friend grabbed his wife and Bir cut off her right hand. After this, they both took his hand and fled the scene.
Neighbor took him to the hospital
There was a protest in the house after the cut on the hand. The woman was in bad condition due to pain. Upon hearing the voices, the neighbors came and took the woman to the hospital. After the police received the information, they recorded the woman’s statement and based on the same, registered a case against her husband Bir Munda and his friend under serious sections. The police are currently carrying out raids at different places to arrest the accused.
The accused Bir Munda and the victim Lakshmi were married only a few years ago. Currently, the police have started investigating the entire matter. Wife Lakshmi’s husband Veer Munda and his friends are currently absconding due to the severed hand.
