Following the recent agreement between India and China on the Line of Actual Control (LAC), the Indian Army resumed patrols in the Depsang plains from Monday after the armies of both countries withdrew from Demchok and Depsang Is. Sources said Indian security forces successfully patrolled Patrol Point 10 (PP 10) in Depsang. This is an important step in the effort to maintain peace and stability on the disputed border.

While giving information about the resumption of patrols in Depsang and Demchok, the Army Fire and Fury Corps shared an image on social media and wrote: Indian Army will withdraw troops and resume patrols in Depsang and Demchok following the understanding reached between Indians and Chinese. On both sides, the Indian Army successfully carried out patrols at one of the patrolling points in Depsang today. This is another positive step towards maintaining peace in LAC.
Notably, this is the first time after the Galwan clash in 2020. When Indian soldiers were patrolling Demchok and Depsang areas.
This patrol is part of a broader understanding between Indian and Chinese officials to restore normal patrolling rights and reduce tensions in the area. As both sides work to implement the troop disengagement framework, the Indian Army remains cautious but optimistic and is carefully monitoring all major friction points.
Now that the agreement has come into effect, the Indian Army is expected to gradually resume patrols at other patrolling points in the Depsang plains as part of intensified efforts to restore normalcy along the LAC. The recent patrols are considered necessary to restore confidence and are an important step towards stability in eastern Ladakh.
