During proceedings before a Pakistani court on Monday, former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s wife Bushra Bibi became emotional and began crying bitterly. She expressed her helplessness in the face of the country’s inefficient justice system and her husband’s unjust punishment.
The former prime minister’s wife had appeared before the court of Islamabad District Magistrate Afzal Majoka seeking bail for her husband and herself in six cases registered at Tarnol, Karachi Company, Ramna police stations , Secretariat and Kohsar.
Imran Khan was not produced before the court during the hearing held at Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail. He was not allowed to appear even via video link. Meanwhile, when Bushra came to speak in court, he became emotional.
‘I’ve been waiting for justice for 9 months’
She said: “I have been facing injustice for the last nine months from those responsible for delivering justice. I and the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf were unfairly sentenced.”
Crying, he said: “There is no justice. I have not come to ask for justice.” He also blamed the lawyers, saying that all lawyers, including those who represent him, “just waste their time.”
‘Isn’t the person in jail a human being?’
He said, “The person (Imran Khan) who is in prison, is he not a human being? Doesn’t a judge see this?” “He will not come to this court again, where there is no justice.”
Bushra told the judge he had his blanket and other belongings in his car outside the court and was ready to return to jail if ordered to do so.
Bushra was released last month after being granted bail in the new Toshakhana case, but her husband Imran Khan is still in prison.
The court had sentenced him to 14 years
Let us tell you that Bushra was sentenced to 14 years in prison by a court on January 31 after he was found guilty of keeping and selling gifts received by the state in violation of government rules during the PTI founder’s tenure in power. However, he denies all the accusations against him.
