State Minister for Tourism and Cultural Affairs Tarunpreet Singh Saund said there is immense potential in the field of tourism in Punjab and a policy will soon be framed to encourage tourism in the religious sector as well as other sectors. He said that rural tourism can be further promoted in Punjab. In addition, special efforts can also be made to promote tourism on the occasion of fairs and festivals held in different areas.

Large-scale festivals and fairs will be held
The minister further said that festivals and fairs of Punjab have special importance at the social level. He directed the officials to plan to celebrate the state’s famous festivals and fairs on a large scale to attract more and more tourists to visit Punjab on these occasions. He also ordered to promote tourism and culture of Punjab to the maximum on various online platforms and social media.

During the meeting, the Minister of Tourism and Cultural Affairs gave special instructions to senior officials to provide more opportunities to local folk artists, playwrights and poets. He said that the Punjab government is committed to providing maximum opportunities and respect to all such artists in government programmes. He also ordered that all artists register on the portal of the Ministry of Tourism and Culture.
