Who will captain the Test team instead of Rohit Sharma? (PC-PTI)
After the clear defeat against New Zealand, now the next challenge for the Indian team is the tour of Australia. Team India has to play a five-match Test series against Australia, the first match of which will begin on November 22. However, the big question ahead of this series is who will take charge of the Indian team because Rohit Sharma is finding it difficult to play in the first Test match. Rohit may be left out of the first Test due to personal reasons. Jasprit Bumrah has been named vice-captain for the tour of Australia and is believed to take charge of the team. But former Team India cricketer Mohammad Kaif believes that the command of the team should be handed over to Rishabh Pant.
Mohammad Kaif spoke about making Pant captain
Mohammad Kaif said that only Rishabh Pant is a strong candidate for the Test captaincy of the current team. According to Kaif, Pant also deserves this because whenever he plays, he always keeps the Indian team ahead. No matter what number Pant plays, he always tries to play winning innings. Pant has the ability to score runs in all types of conditions. Pant has scored runs in England, Australia and South Africa. He has also scored runs in India’s spin field. Kaif described Pant as a complete batsman.
Jasprit Bumrah is also a big contender
Kaif spoke about making Rishabh Pant the Test captain but did not say the real reason. However, ahead of Pant, Bumrah seems to be ahead in the race to become captain. This is the reason why Bumrah has also been named vice-captain of the tour. Bumrah has also taken charge of the team in a Test. If Rohit doesn’t play in the first Test, then Bumrah can be seen taking over the captaincy. However, Kaif believes something else. Kaif said that when Pant plays his last Test match, he will retire as a legend. There has been a huge improvement in their land management. Kaif said as long as Pant was at the crease, New Zealand would not get a sigh of relief. According to Kaif, if you are looking for a future captain, there is no better option than Pant.
