Senior Congress leader and Punjab party MLA Sukhpal Singh Khaira has made a big statement saying that the anti-Sikh violence of November 1984 was not just a riot but a genocide of the Sikhs. Punjab Congress MP Sukhpal Singh Khaira said the victims of 1984 are yet to get justice. He has said that delaying justice is equivalent to not getting justice. Sukhpal Singh Khaira said I know it is not easy to talk about this issue in Congress and it may also cause (political) losses, but he has only spoken for justice.
In a video message posted on his handle X, Khaira said: “Justice delayed equals justice denied.” This is what happened to the victims of the 1984 Sikh genocide, who have not gotten justice even after 40 years. This is a grave injustice. He said until unarmed civilians get justice, this will remain a blot on India’s criminal justice system and judiciary. In the video, he argued that these were not riots between two communities, but rather unilateral massacres and genocide.

In this sense, he said, I call on all parties, especially our party, to ensure that definitive justice is done. I think Rahul Gandhi is playing a very important role as an opposition leader and is fighting against all kinds of injustice in the country. He was a child at that time, the time has come when for the sake of human values, justice must also be done to the Sikhs who worked for the welfare of all.
Let us tell you that this is Sukhpal Singh Khaira’s third term as MLA. He has also been the leader of the opposition in the Punjab Assembly. Khaira also holds the position of President of the All India Kisan Congress. It remains to be seen what the Congress Party’s attitude is towards him after his comment.
