CM Siddaramaiah to appear before Lokayukta in Muda scam, High Court may hand over probe to CBI

New Delhi. Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has confirmed that he will appear before the Lokayukta in the Muda scam case. Lokayukta had summoned CM Siddaramaiah for questioning in connection with the scam. CM attended a program in Hubli Dharwad area. During this, the media asked him if he would appear before the Lokayukta, to which CM Siddaramaiah said that I will go tomorrow at 10 am.
The Lokayukta police had summoned CM Siddaramaiah and asked him to appear for questioning on November 6. Earlier, CM’s wife Parvati had been questioned in this matter on October 25. Additionally, Parvati’s brother, Mallikarjuna Swami and Devaraju have also been questioned. Mallikaswamy had bought land from Devaraju and gifted it to his sister Parvati. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has denied any wrongdoing and said the opposition is afraid of him, which is why allegations are being leveled against him. In the Muda scam case, ED also questioned former Muda commissioner DB Natesh. The former commissioner was arrested after being interrogated. ED is investigating this case from money laundering angle.
CM Siddaramaiah’s problems are continuously increasing in the Muda scam. Now the Karnataka High Court has also issued a notice to the CM. In fact, the Karnataka High Court on Tuesday issued notice to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and others on the writ petition filed by RTI activist Snehamoyi Krishna. The petition demands that the investigation into the scam be handed over to the CBI. Justice M Nagaprasanna also issued notices to Siddaramaiah’s wife Parvati BM, his relative Mallikarjuna Swamy, the Union of India, the state government, CBI and Lokayukta. He directed the Lokayukta to record the investigation carried out so far in the case. The court will next hear the matter on November 26.
The Muda (Mysore Urban Development Authority) scam is related to the scam of about 3.2 acres of land. Instead of this land, Muda had allotted plots to CM Siddaramaiah’s wife. It is alleged that there were alleged irregularities in the allocation of these plots. In fact, his brother Mallikarjuna Swamy had gifted 3.2 acres of land to the Chief Minister’s wife Parvati in the year 2010. Later, this land came under the ambit of land acquisition carried out by Muda. When Parvati demanded compensation for land acquisition, Muda allotted her 14 plots. It is alleged that these lands were worth much more than the original price of the land. Opposition parties allege that this alleged scam could be worth between three and four billion rupees.
