According to information received from the police, a case of murder of a youth over a love affair has come to light in Tibbi Bharaiyan, a village adjacent to the city under the police station. In this incident, a friend of the deceased youth was also injured and was admitted to Guru Gobind Singh Medical College Hospital for treatment. In its statement, the city police station has initiated action by registering a case against a total of 8 people, including the deceased’s girlfriend, her husband, the village sarpanch. According to information, Gurpreet Singh, a resident of Dogar Basti here, had a love affair with Manpreet Kaur, a woman resident of Tibbi Bharaiyan village, due to which he kept visiting her house.

Even on Sunday night, Gurpreet Singh was reaching Manpreet Kaur’s house with his uncle Arshdeep Singh along with one of his friends when he was surrounded by the villagers on the road and they attacked him with sharp weapons and seriously injured him. Gurpreet Singh died due to this attack while an injured Arshdeep was admitted to the hospital. DSP Trilochan Singh said that on the basis of the statement, the police registered a case against Manpreet Kaur, her husband Jaspreet Singh, the village sarpanch and others and started acting and autopsy of the body is being carried out.
