2024 US Presidential Election: Voting is underway for the United States presidential election. A tough contest is expected between Donald Trump and Kamala Harris to become the new president of the United States. American citizens are coming to the polls to vote in the elections. NASA has put together a plan to ensure that no one is left behind in this voting process. According to NASA’s plan, astronauts will be able to vote even while they are in space. Four Americans are currently in space who will exercise their right to vote. They include two Boeing Starliner astronauts, Sunita Williams and Butch Wilmore, who are stranded in space.

What is the voting process?
Since 1997, NASA astronauts have been voting in elections from the space station. Astronauts vote by electronic voting from the orbital laboratory present on the space station. Electronic ballots are sent to the space station via a satellite frequency, after which the astronauts cast their vote. After this, the electronic ballots are sent back to Earth.
who voted when
According to NASA, David Wolf was the first person to vote in space in 1997 and Kate Rubins was the last astronaut to vote from the International Space Station during the 2020 US election.
