ranchi: Eight days before the assembly elections in Jharkhand, the problems of Pankaj Mishra, a close associate of Chief Minister Hemant Soren and his MLA, have increased further. CBI raided 20 locations of Pankaj Mishra’s close associates and seized Rs 50 lakh in cash. CBI sources said raids were carried out at 20 locations in 3 states including Jharkhand, West Bengal and Bihar in the illegal mining case. Rs 50 lakh in cash, one kilo of gold and some silver jewelery were recovered during the raid.

CBI seized Rs 40 lakh from Bhagwan Bhagat, while one kg of gold was recovered from Ranjan Verma. Both are close associates of Pankaj Mishra. In all, a total of Rs 50 lakh cash has been seized.

Raids conducted in many places in Jharkhand

According to information, raids were carried out at 11 places in Sahibganj, 3 places in Ranchi and one place in Kolkata and Patna. CBI raided the houses of big businessman Mahtab Alam of Rajmahal Udhwa, Ranjan Verma of Mirzachowki, Sanjay Jaiswal, Subroto Pal of Barharwa, stone businessman Tinkle Bhagat, Awadh Kishore Singh alias Patru Singh, Bhagwan Bhagat of Barharwa and Krishna Shah. All these people are considered close to Pankaj Mishra.

Let us tell you that Pankaj Mishra is the representative of Barhat Assembly MLA Hemant Soren. CBI had registered an FIR against Pankaj Mishra and many people in illegal mining cases. CBI had registered an FIR in 2023.

The Jharkhand High Court had given the order

In November 2023, the Jharkhand High Court directed the CBI to investigate the case of theft and illegal stone quarrying in Nimbu Pahad, Sahibganj. The Court also noted that the petitioner who had filed the original WP wanted to withdraw it. The High Court asked the CBI to investigate the authenticity of the vakalatnama subsequently submitted by the petitioner. In this, the role of two people – Ashok Yadav and Mukesh Yadav – came to the fore. Who threatened the petitioner at the High Court premises when he was seeking NOC to represent the petition.

In this case, FIR was registered against seven accused, including Pankaj Mishra. ED had arrested Pankaj Mishra in a money laundering case related to illegal coal mining in Jharkhand. The Supreme Court had granted bail to Pankaj Mishra.
