Now the name of Bihar’s Sultanganj railway station will also be added to the list of changing names of many railway stations having historical importance in the country. Efforts have been initiated to rename this station which belongs to Malda division of Eastern Railway. Deputy CM Samrat Chaudhary, while addressing the ‘Bol Bam Kawandiya Seva Samman Ceremony’ in Patna, said that the name of Sultanganj railway station will be changed to Ajgaibinath. In this regard, he will meet the Railway Minister and will soon complete this work.
Sultanganj will be called Ajgaibinath
In fact, the proposal to change the name of Sultanganj Railway Station to Ajgaibinath Dham was approved by the local Municipal Council in the same month of June and a letter was also written to the State Government and the Urban Development Department in this regard. . Since 2007, Chief Mahant here, the Juna Akhara Committee, local citizens and the Panda community have been demanding that the name of Sultanganj railway station be changed to Ajgaibinath Dham.
Why is Sultanganj famous?
Sultanganj, which is located in Bhagalpur district, is famous for the world famous Shravani Fair, Ajgabinath Dham and Uttarvahini Ganga. It is said that earlier Sultanganj was known as Hiranya Puri or Ajgabinath Dham. There used to be Buddhist monasteries here. The Mughal rulers changed its name to Sultanganj. Shravani fair has great importance here and devotees from all over come here in the month of Sawan and Jalabhishek of Bhole Baba is performed by drinking Ganga water from here. Ajgaibinath Dham is an important pilgrimage site of Lord Shiva. It is situated on the banks of the Uttaravahini Ganga and in the month of Shravan, millions of Shiva devotees come here in the form of Kanwadis for Bolbam Yatra.
