After retention for IPL 2025, now its mega auction has also been announced. According to the latest information, this year it will be organized in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on November 24 and 25. This mega auction that will last two days is going to be very interesting, because this time many star players will also participate. Let us tell you that a total of 1574 players have registered for this event. A big name has also been added to this list and that name is James Anderson. Yes, this time the legendary England fast bowler has also expressed his desire to play in the world’s biggest cricket league. At the same time, his country’s legendary all-rounder Ben Stokes has retired his name to focus on Test cricket.
How much is Anderson worth?
James Anderson is counted among the best bowlers in the world. He has taken a total of 991 wickets in his international career. He has 704 wickets in Test and 269 wickets in ODIs. But Anderson, who recently retired and became a bowling coach, only played 19 T20 internationals, in which he took 18 wickets. Not only that, he played his last T20 match 10 years ago in 2014. After that, he started focusing on Test cricket and will now return to T20 through IPL.
Let us tell you that Anderson has kept his base price for the IPL mega auction at Rs 1.25 crore. Now we have to see how many teams show interest in this bowler who holds the record of taking most wickets in Test cricket as a fast bowler. Because apart from Anderson, the most expensive player in IPL history and Australia fast bowler Mitchell Starc will also be there to give him competition.
Starc, who was sold for Rs 24.50 crore in last season’s auction, has not been signed by his team KKR and has registered his name for the auction with a base price of Rs 2 crore. On the other hand, Jofra Archer, who has the ability to bowl at a speed of 150, will also join the mega auction. Archer also kept his price the same as Stark’s. He last played in the IPL for Mumbai Indians in the 2023 season. He was out due to injury after playing only 5 matches.
Offers will also be made for these star players.
Apart from James Anderson, this time many Indian and foreign star players will participate in the mega auction. The three biggest names in this are Delhi Capitals captain Rishabh Pant, Lucknow Super Giants captain KL Rahul and Kolkata Knight Riders captain Shreyas Iyer. These three players were not retained by their franchises. All three have kept their base price for the mega auction at Rs 2 crore. Apart from this, two veteran spinners of Rajasthan Royals, R Ashwin and Yuzvendra Chahal, are names who were not retained by their franchise. Both also kept their price at Rs 2 crore.
Indian players include Mohammed Shami, Mohammed Siraj, Ishan Kishan, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Arshdeep Singh, Washington Sundar, Mukesh Kumar, Khalil Ahmed, Deepak Chahar, Venkatesh Iyer, Avesh Khan, Prasidh Krishna, T Natarajan, Devdutt Padikkal, Kunral Pandya, Harshal Patel.
