Former Toronto Police Sergeant (Detective) Donald Best supported Indian Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar’s criticism that Canada lacks adequate vetting procedures for immigrants. In an interview with ANI, Donald Best, also an investigative journalist, supported India’s concerns about Khalistani separatists gaining political space in Canada.
Criminals fleeing from all over the world to Canada
Best said that India’s Foreign Minister mentioned that Canada is approving visas for people who are criminals and were members of organized crime in India. I think this is true. We do not have any type of background investigation on our immigrants. It seems that many people who come to Canada and seek refugee status, not just from India but from all over the world, are fleeing their own countries because they are wanted criminals.

I think this is attracting a large number of Khalistani separatists to Canada because they are protected and find refuge here and their community is growing. Delhi’s relations with Ottawa have seen a decline as India has repeatedly expressed deep concern over the culture of extremism and violence and anti-India activities in Canada.
