Chandigarh News (Aaj Samaj) Chandigarh: Haryana Transport Minister Anil Vij gave strict instructions to the transport department officials and said that no transport department buses will stop at dhabas. If a complaint is received for stopping at a bus stop, action will be taken against the bus driver and conductor. He also said that no vehicle without number should be on the roads of the state, if any such vehicle is found, strict action should be taken against it. Anil Vij was holding a review meeting with Transport Department officials. He has also instructed the officials that all General Managers (GMs) should check bus stops daily and strict action should be taken against vehicles plying without permits in the state.

He said that the provisions regarding arrival and departure times of buses, etc. should be monitored in every way. Vij directed officials to improve maintenance works including provision of drinking water, cleanliness, benches for passengers to sit, lights and fans at all bus stops in the state on priority basis. In addition, the food there must be checked every day. Transport Department Principal Secretary Navdeep Singh Virk, State Transport Department Director Sujan Singh, Transport Commissioner Yashendra Singh and other department officials were present in the meeting.

Canteens will open at bus stops on railway lines

The Transport Minister directed the officials to explore the possibilities of constructing canteens at the state’s bus stands on the line where Railways has constructed canteens for its passengers, so that better arrangements can be provided to passengers arriving at the bus stops. .

Speed ​​boards will be installed on all roads to avoid accidents

He has also ordered that speed boards be installed on all highways in the state and places where accidents occur be identified. Its main objective is to prevent and reduce road accidents that occur every year in the state.

A policy should be prepared for driver and conductor fitness.

Vij directed officials to ensure that salaries of department employees are paid on time. In addition to this, the promotion of any employee or officer of the department should not be suspended. He said new technology equipment must be acquired for vehicle fitness. The Transport Minister also directed that a policy be prepared for the fitness of bus drivers and conductors, setting out standards related to their fitness.

More than 10 lakh passengers travel in Haryana Roadways buses every day.

Officials told the Transport Minister that there are 4,040 buses, 24 bus stations and 13 sub-depots in the state. Apart from this, there are 649 intra-state routes, 443 out-of-state routes and bus routes to 877 villages. He also said that around 11 lakh kilometers of buses ply every day, in which more than 10 lakh passengers travel every day.
