Guwahati: November 13 has been declared a holiday in view of voting to be held in five constituencies of Assam. The Assam government has issued an order in this regard in view of the by-elections. According to information, by-elections are being held in Dholai (reserved), Sidli (reserved), Bongaigaon, Behali and Samguri assembly constituencies.

Assam Gana Parishad (AGP), an ally of the Bharatiya Janata Party-led Assam government, has named Diptimayee Choudhary, wife of Lok Sabha MP Phani Bhushan Choudhary, as its party candidate from the Bongaigaon seat for the by-election.
