Vandre East Assembly Election 2024: Vandre East assembly seat is one of the 288 constituencies of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly. Vandre East assembly seat is an important assembly seat of Maharashtra, where the Indian National Congress won in 2019. Vandre East assembly seat falls under the Mumbai suburban district of Maharashtra. Vandre, also known as Bandra, is part of the Mumbai North Central Lok Sabha constituency along with five other assembly constituencies in the suburban Mumbai district. In 2019, a total of 30.28 percent of votes were cast in Vandre East. In 2019, Zeeshan Ziauddin Siddiqui of the Indian National Congress defeated Vishwanath Pandurang Mahadeveshwar of the Shiv Sena by a margin of 5,790 votes. The 2024 Maharashtra Assembly elections will be held in a single phase on November 20. Voting will also take place in the Vandre East assembly seat on the same date. The election results will be announced on November 23.

From this seat, Shiv Sena has given the ticket to Varun Sardesai, while Zeeshan Siddiqui of the NCP’s Ajit faction has entered the fray. Zeeshan Siddiqui is the son of Baba Siddiqui, who was shot dead by miscreants in Mumbai a few days ago. The atmosphere in Mumbai and Maharashtra is very heated over this murder.

About the Vandre East assembly seat

Vandre East assembly seat is one of the major assembly constituencies in Mumbai district. This seat became the most discussed issue in the 2015 by-elections. Actually, Trupti Prakash had won in these elections, but more than her victory, there were more discussions about the defeat of former Maharashtra Chief Minister Narayan Rane. Shiv Sena’s Trupti Prakash had scored a huge victory by defeating him, but he could not maintain this victory till the 2019 elections, he lost to Congress candidate Zeeshan Siddiqui, son of Baba Siddiqui. Trupti Prakash had won from the Shiv Sena, but later joined the BJP. Zeeshan Siddiqui is considered to be the strongest contender from the NCP (Ajit Pawar’s faction) for this seat in the elections.

Shiv Sena’s dominance in 2009 and 2014

Shiv Sena candidate Prakash Sawant won the Vandre East seat twice in a row in 2009 and 2014 elections. Prakash Sawant’s name had become a popular face in this area and under his leadership Shiv Sena maintained its strong base of support in this seat. After the 2014 elections, due to the untimely death of Prakash Sawant, a by-election was held in this seat in 2015. In this by-election, Shiv Sena nominated Prakash Sawant’s wife Trupti Sawant as its candidate. Thanks to the wave of sympathy and strong organizational structure of Shiv Sena, Trupti Sawant registered a huge victory in the by-elections.

Vandre East Assembly Seat 2019 Status

Talking about the 2019 Assembly elections, Shiv Sena had to face a crushing defeat from here. Zeeshan Siddiqui of Congress had won from Vandre East seat. Zeeshan Siddiqui is considered a young and energetic leader, who revitalized the old Congress legacy here. Zeeshan got 38,309 votes. He defeated Vishwanath Pandurang Mahadeveshwar of Shiv Sena, who received 32,476 votes. While independent candidate Trupti Prakash Sawant came third with 24,030 votes.
