Two youths were arrested on Wednesday for allegedly throwing acid on a schoolgirl in Kushinagar, Uttar Pradesh. The police have given this information. Superintendent of Police Santosh Mishra said the main suspect, Mukesh Rajbhar, and his associate Suraj Rajbhar were arrested within 24 hours of the attack. The incident took place in a village under Hanumanganj police jurisdiction.
The incident came to light when two youths from Nebua Naurangiya area threw acid on the girl after they failed to attract her attention. The girl’s father filed a formal complaint with the police demanding justice for her. He said officials took immediate action, registered a case and arrested the accused.
The SP said Mukesh had unilaterally fallen in love with a minor girl and tried to talk to her several times but faced repeated rejection. He said that on Tuesday, the day of the attack, Mukesh allegedly bought a chemical used in agriculture, mixed it with water and filled it into a bottle with the help of Suraj.
After this, they both went to the girl’s house on a motorcycle and threw it in her face, causing her to suffer serious burns. She said she was taken to the district hospital, where doctors said the girl did not suffer serious injuries and was undergoing treatment. Police said both arrested persons were sent to prison by the local court.
