News above: On one hand, in the Ekta Gupta murder case in Kanpur, the administration is continuously ignoring the entire matter. Even after the woman’s body was found in the DM compound, the district official did not make any official statement. Despite the evidence, the District Officer said that the accused Vimal Soni has nothing to do with the DM Campus, however, now that news has come to light, which has once again raised doubts on the claims of the administration.
When the media reached the spot on Wednesday afternoon, a bicycle was seen near the main gate of the DM residential complex. There was no air in both wheels of the bicycle, so it could be assumed that the bicycle had been standing here for a long time. When the owner of this bike was traced from its number, it was found to belong to Vimal Soni. In such a situation, doubts arise that in a place where only vehicles of officers and staff or those whose vehicles are known to everyone can travel, the bicycle of accused Vimal Soni remained parked inside for 4 months.
The issue is also that the police were searching for the accused Vimal Soni since June. In such a situation, his bike was left parked in DM’s own premises and the police were not aware of it. Many days have passed since Ekta’s murder case came to light. Evidence of this incident is continually being added to the DM campus. In such a situation, the question is why so far the police have not questioned any staff of DM’s residence or asked for CCTV footage from there.

It was also seen at the spot that two high-resolution CCTV cameras were installed at the gate of the DM complex, but the police said that the CCTVs were faulty and currently the CCTVs of the DM residence have not been checked. Police say that a few months ago, Vimal’s bike broke down, after which he left it there and started driving. This bicycle is not the property of the case, so it will be given to the family members.
The question is that even if this were true, why wasn’t the bike repaired and why was it left there? How is it possible that the police so quickly accepted that the bicycle had not been used in the crime and asked to hand it over to the family? Vimal used to receive his salary from the Sports Promotion Committee headed by the DM.
Vimal, accused of Ekta’s murder, was held in the Green Park stadium gymnasium in 2018-19. His salary was Rs 8,000, but Vimal was already close to officials and influential people. Vimal worked in the Officers Club in DM Compound, Kanpur for 6 years. That man used to make people exercise. It is used to cook and feed them healthy foods. He also lived in the Officers’ Club.
When the gym opened after being closed for 2 years due to Covid, at the request of officials, Vimal’s salary was increased to Rs 15,000. The money came from the Sports Promotion Committee. DM was the chairman of this committee and the Green Park officials are its secretaries. Between 150 and 200 people come to Greenpark Gym every day. There are also many women, but there are no trainers on the morning shift. Vimal used to come in the morning shift and put restraints on the women.
