Said, record lifting of 6.18 LMT of rice in one day
Punjab News (Aaj Samaj), Chandigarh: The state government is with the farmers and buys every grain of their production. In addition, it is ensured that farmers receive the price of their products without delay. This is what State Cabinet Minister Lal Chand Kataruchak said while sharing details about the extraction of rice from the market with reporters. During this, the Punjab Cabinet Minister said that the BJP government at the Center is directly behind the current situation in the state’s mandis. He said that if the Central Government had abandoned its warehouses in the state on time, the situation would have been absolutely perfect. He said the state BJP wants to take political advantage of rice procurement by making it an important issue.

So far 105 lakh metric tonnes has been lifted.
This is completely clear from the fact that Rs 22,047 crore has been deposited in the farmers’ accounts as payment and of the 111 lakh metric tonnes of rice reached in the mandis, 105 lakh metric tonnes have been purchased. As far as lifting is concerned, 6.18 lakh metric tonnes of rice were lifted yesterday which is a historic achievement in terms of lifting in a single day and the total delivery so far is 64.55 lakh tonnes metrics, which represents approximately 62 percent.

Kattaruchak said that out of 5,086 rice mills in the state, 4,792 applied for allocation and 4,579 mills were allocated, which is a clear proof that this sixth procurement session of the present state government will also be very successful.

The minister further said that this time the state has achieved the target of purchasing 185 lakh metric tonnes of wheat and the state government has made complete arrangements in the form of gunny bags and currency to purchase 190 lakh metric tonnes. The Chief Minister said that last year, the Central Government had reduced the price of crops brought by farmers to the mandis, but the Punjab Government had given Rs 190 crore from its own pocket to the farmers to ensure that there was no financial losses.
