They recover a large amount of explosive material
Aizawl: Assam Rifles along with Mizoram Police have recovered a large quantity of explosive material. Two people have been arrested in this case. While inspecting the Serchhip-Thenzawl road, the joint forces saw a white car approaching. There were two people sitting in the car. During the investigation of the vehicle, a huge cache of weapons and explosive material was recovered. It contained 9,600 gelatin sticks, 9,400 detonators and more than 1,800 meters of cordtex.
Assam Rifles and Mizoram Police took this action after receiving intelligence inputs. The arrested persons and recovered items were handed over to Mizoram police for further investigation. The detainees are currently being interrogated. This incident was reported since Wednesday.
Earlier, Assam Rifles along with Excise and Narcotics Department had recovered illegal heroin and nuts worth Rs 1.01 crore from Champhai district of Mizoram. In this case, three people were arrested, including a Myanmar citizen. Assam Rifles along with Excise and Narcotics Department and Customs Preventive Force recovered 128.2 grams of heroin and 1,710 kilograms of illegal betel nut worth 1 crore 1 lakh seventy one thousand rupees in two separate cases in Champhai district.
On November 5, three persons namely Nangkhaukhupa (30 years), Ruatfela (36 years), both residents of Aizawl, Mizoram and LT Syama (39 years), a resident of Myanmar, were arrested from Zote general area of the Champhai district. .
