New Delhi: The Canadian government has blocked the social media account page of Australian television news channel ‘Australia Today’ for showing Indian Foreign Minister Jaishankar’s press conference. In this regard, the Indian Ministry of External Affairs reacted strongly and reprimanded Canada. Foreign Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said Thursday that we have learned that the social network and page of an Australian channel, a major outlet for expats in Canada, have been blocked. This incident has exposed Canada’s hypocrisy towards freedom of expression.
Canada took this action hours after the Saksha press conference of Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar and his counterpart in Australia, Penny Wong. In this PC, Jaishankar had raised the issue of Canada accusing India without any evidence. The Australian channel broadcast this PC in Canada.
