During preparations for Chhath Puja, a dead body was found floating in a state of decomposition on the banks of river Yamuna in Delhi’s Shaheen Bagh. Local residents who were building a ghat and preparing for the festival saw the body floating in the river and informed the police. He said police received information about the body at Okhla Barrage under Kalandi Kunj bridge on Thursday morning. There was a Rudraksh garland around the neck and wrist of the corpse.
Police said he was later identified as Chokala Srinivas, a resident of Karimnagar, Telangana. The officer said the body was completely decomposed, appearing to be between 10 and 15 days old.
6 people drowned in Bihar, 3 died
At the same time, on the occasion of Chhath Puja festival in Bihar, six people drowned while bathing in the Son river in Tilothu and Dinara police station area in Rohtas, of whom three died. This accident has created an atmosphere of mourning throughout the area. The incident took place in the Tilothu police station area. Here Pathra residents Pintu Yadav (35 years), Sukhadi Yadav (40 years), Bablu Kumar (12 years) and Vikas Yadav (25 years) drowned while bathing in the Son river.
The second incident took place in the Pipra police station area of Dinara. Here Ayush Kumar (18 years), son of Ramji Singh, and Abhishek Kumar (22 years), son of late Rakesh Singh of Turki village of Bhanas police station area, drowned in the Son river. This tragic incident has shaken the entire region. There is an atmosphere of mourning among the family members and mourning prevails throughout the area. This tragedy has saddened the happiness of the great festival of Chhath Puja.
