The Pakistani military said Thursday that four of its soldiers were killed in an exchange of fire with terrorists near the northwest border with Afghanistan. Five Islamic terrorists were also killed during this encounter. This meeting took place in the tribal area of South Waziristan, which is located next to the border with Afghanistan. This is an area that has long been a safe haven for terrorists operating on both sides of the border.
The military says terrorists are using Afghan soil to plan and train attacks in Pakistan, while Kabul denies the allegation and says terrorism is a domestic problem for the South Asian nation.
According to local reports, a group of terrorists called Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan has been attacking Pakistan and its forces for years in an attempt to overthrow the government and replace it with its own harsh Islamic system. It has stepped up attacks since it abrogated a ceasefire with the government last year, accusing it of violating it.
Let us tell you that terrorists are continuously attacking Pakistani army and police. Also last month, 10 soldiers were killed in a terrorist attack. The attack took place at a checkpoint near the northwestern city of Dera Ismail Khan. Ten Pakistan Border Police soldiers were killed in this attack. Three police officers were injured. Tehreek-e-Taliban i.e. TTP was said to be behind this. Earlier on October 24, the TTP had attacked security forces in Dera Ismail Khan.
