The Supreme Court has made a big change regarding the long summer holidays. Apart from this, it has also been decided to abolish the term of the vacation judge. In the new SC rule, each year’s summer vacation is now called “partial court work day.” At the same time, there has been a change in the name of the vacation judge. It has been changed to judge.
This change made regarding the holidays of the Supreme Court is also important because for some time it has been discussed that the High Court has long holidays. This was part of the amendment to the Supreme Court Rules, 2013, but after changes it has now become the Supreme Court (Second Amendment) Rules, 2024. This change has been notified on November 5.
The notification says that the Chief Justice will decide together with the court the duration of the “partial judicial day” and the holidays of its offices. This will be notified in the official bulletin. These holidays will not be longer than 95 days except Sundays.
