The Chief Minister participated in the Maha Chhath festival in Karnal as the chief guest.
Chandigarh News (Aaj Samaj) Chandigarh: Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini participated as chief guest in the program organized in Karnal on the occasion of Maha Chhath festival on Thursday. The Chief Minister first offered prayers and received blessings at the Lord Surya Dev Temple established on the banks of the Western Yamuna Canal. On this occasion, the Chief Minister accepted all the demands presented by the committee and announced a grant of Rs 21 lakh from his discretionary fund. Addressing the devotees present, the Chief Minister said that it is a great fortune to have the opportunity to participate in the worship of Chhath festival in Karnal, the town of Surya Putra Mahavir-Danveer Karna.
He said that Chhath festival conveys to us the message of love for nature, keeping water and air clean and social harmony. The tradition of worshiping the Sun is proof that our culture and faith have a deep connection with nature. The importance of sunlight in our lives has been explained through Chhath Puja. Everyone worships the rising sun, but you worship the sun in all its forms. Worshiping the setting sun on this is also wonderful. This sends the message that we must remain level-headed through the ups and downs of life. Chhath Puja is considered the most sacred festival of Sun worship. Surya Narayana, the god of energy and vitality, is worshiped during this festival to bring fulfillment of wishes, prosperity and progress.
This festival conveys the message of mutual love and equality.
The Chief Minister said that like Navratri, this festival is also celebrated twice a year. It comes for the first time in the Chaitra month and for the second time in the Kartik month. Chhath Puja is also related to Haryana. According to belief, the Chhath festival began during the Mahabharata period. Suryaputra Karna was the first to start worshiping the Sun God. Even today the special effect of Sun worship can be seen here. This festival also conveys the message of mutual love and equality.
He said the Lord Suryanarayan Temple is the result of this faith and devotion. Keeping in mind the tradition of celebrating Chhath festival here every year by thousands of devotees, the Haryana government has constructed a bathing ghat in the western Yamuna canal at a cost of Rs 4 crore and 48 lakh. It is a matter of joy that under the Smart City project another ghat has been built on the other side of the canal, opposite this ghat. Even today, a large number of women worship at these ghats.
