Many important departments of the Uttar Pradesh government have not spent even a quarter of the planned budget in this financial year. Especially the highway, municipal and health departments have lagged behind in budget spending. In this situation, the state government will have to spend 60 per cent of the budget in the next five months to meet its target.
For the current financial year 2024-25, the state government had allocated a huge budget for the welfare of the general public. However, the performance of these departments has been very weak in terms of budget expenditure. So far seven months of this financial year have been completed in the state, and some departments have spent only 20 percent of their budget.
Expressing concern over this situation, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed concerned departmental ministers to review the issue and increase budget expenditure soon.
It may be noted that the total budget for this financial year remained at Rs 7.82 lakh crore, which was allocated for the development of the state and welfare of the people. Now the question arises whether it will be possible for the government to meet the set target, especially when some important departments are not implementing their plans on time.
Government sources say that measures will soon be taken to ensure that the departments improve their functioning and use the budget properly.
