The last six months of this financial year have been much better for the Indian automobile sector. In the first half, vehicle manufacturers not only performed brilliantly in the domestic market, but also saw a 14 percent year-on-year increase in sales in the export market. The shipment of passenger vehicles and two-wheelers has increased rapidly.

According to data from the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), total exports in the April-September period stood at 25,28,248 units, up 14 per cent from 22,11,457 units in the same period last year. SIAM Chairman Shailesh Chandra said, “Major markets like Latin America and Africa, which had slowed down due to various reasons, have once again gained momentum. Due to which India’s exports have increased rapidly.”

Shailesh Chandra said: “There were recessions in the last few years in markets like Latin America and Africa due to many different reasons. But now they are emerging rapidly. If we look at the figures of the last few years, due to the currency crisis, there has been a recession in the financial sector. Automobile exports saw a decline of 5.5 percent in the last fiscal year, compared to 47,61,299 units in FY23. It has increased 12 percent year-on-year to 3,76,679 units.

The Maruti Suzuki Splash:

The country’s largest automobile manufacturer, Maruti Suzuki, has exported the maximum number of passenger cars. During this period, the company remains ahead with the shipment of 1,47,063 units of vehicles. Which is 12 percent more than the 1,31,546 units exported in the same period last year. Recently, Maruti Suzuki sent the first consignment of its popular compact SUV Maruti Fronx to the homeland of its parent company Suzuki i.e. Japan.

Hyundai Motor India, on the other hand, exported 84,900 units of cars, down about 1 per cent compared to 86,105 units exported in the April-September period of the last financial year.

Two-wheeled vehicles gained momentum:

Talking about the export of two-wheelers, in the April-September period of this financial year, the export of two-wheelers increased by 16 per cent to 19,59,145 units compared to 16,85,907 units exported in the same period from last year. . The demand for Indian-made scooters has also been increasing rapidly in the overseas market. The data shows that scooter exports rose 19 per cent to 3,14,533 units, while motorcycle exports rose 16 per cent to 16,41,804 units.

The export of commercial vehicles increased:

In the first six months of the fiscal year, the export of commercial vehicles also increased 12 percent year-on-year to 35,731 units. However, a slight decline of 1 per cent in the shipment of three-wheelers has also been observed during this period. Which was 1,53,199 units compared to 1,55,154 units exported in April-September of the financial year 2023-24.
