4pm News Network: The Supreme Court issued its verdict on Friday (November 8) on the minority status of Aligarh Muslim University (AMU). The seven-judge court issued its verdict by a 4-3 majority. The Supreme Court has upheld AMU’s minority status. The high court affirmed that AMU is a minority institution. In this case, the court stated that a three-judge committee had been constituted to redetermine the minority status of the university. The court says the new court will now decide the criteria for granting minority status to AMU.

Four judges, including the CJI, delivered a unanimous verdict on this matter, while three judges issued a dissenting note. Let us tell you that the CJI and Justice Pardiwala are unanimous. While the decision of Justice Surya Kant, Justice Dipankar Dutta and Justice Satish Chandra Sharma is different.
We told you that the Chief Justice said that any religious community can establish an institution. But the religious community cannot supervise the administration of the institution. The institute can be established as per government regulations. The Supreme Court said in its decision that Aligarh Muslim University is entitled to minority status under Article 30 of the Constitution.
