In Dehradun, capital of Uttarakhand, the court found the doctor guilty in the sexual abuse case and sentenced him to two years in prison. A girl had filed a complaint against the doctor in February 2022 for sexual abuse and attempted rape. The girl said that during treatment at Dehradun’s Subharti Hospital, the doctor had sexually abused her. After which the girl filed a complaint against the doctor at the police station. Delivering verdict in this case, the court sentenced the doctor to two years in prison and a fine of ten thousand rupees.
The 25-year-old victim had visited the ESI clinic on February 21, 2022 after suffering from stomach upset, from where the doctor referred her to Subharti in Jhajhra for treatment. There the girl told her problem to Dr. Pradyot Kumar Singhal. After this, the doctor performed an ultrasound on the girl. After having the ultrasound, the girl returned to the hospital to show the report to the doctor.

During this time, the doctor took the girl alone to a cabin and asked her many wrong questions. At the same time, the accused doctor also attempted to rape the girl. The victim somehow escaped from there. Upon returning home, the girl told the family about the entire incident. After which the family filed an FIR against the accused doctor at Premnagar police station. At the same time, when the mother and daughter went to the doctor, the doctor threatened to take a look at them.

Based on the victim’s complaint, the police opened a case against the accused doctor for the crimes of rape and sexual abuse. While hearing this case, the court acquitted the accused doctor of rape charges. At the same time, the court found the doctor accused of sexual abuse and imposed a two-year prison sentence and a fine of Rs 10,000. In this entire case, FTSC Court (POCSO) Judge Pankaj Tomar has ruled.
