On the day the great festival of Chhath was celebrated in the country, disturbing images arrived from Bangladesh. Hindus were dragged from their homes and beaten. It is worrying that this time the Hindus were not attacked by fundamentalists but by the Bangladesh army. Bangladesh army entered the houses of Hindus in the dead of night, beat sleeping people, lathi-charged them, Hindus who fled for their lives were forced to run on the streets and beaten brutally.

After this, to erase the evidence of atrocities, the Bangladesh police broke the CCTV cameras installed in Hindu localities. They entered the houses and deleted the footage from the CCTV cameras and on their way out, they threatened the Hindus that if they came out of their houses or uttered even a word against the Muslims, they would be shot. The Government of India has expressed concern and great displeasure over these incidents. The Modi government has asked the Bangladesh government to stop atrocities against Hindus, investigate the matter and provide security to Hindus.

This is not the first case of atrocities against Hindus. Since the overthrow of Sheikh Hasina’s government, Hindus are attacked every day. Hindus in Bangladesh live in an atmosphere of fear. Now even the army is targeting Hindus. The only mistake of the Hindus was that they had opposed the insult to gods and goddesses and the attacks on temples. After this, the army completely destroyed the localities of the Hindus.

The question arises whether Hindu rights have ended in Bangladesh. Don’t Hindus have the right to worship? Has Muhammad Yunus’ government in Bangladesh given license to fundamentalists to insult Hindus? Has the Bangladesh army also become an enemy of the Hindus living there? Now, in such a situation, what should the Indian government do to protect Hindus?

On Tuesday night, the army wreaked havoc among Hindus in Hazari Gali of Chattogram, Bangladesh’s second largest city. Suddenly, army and police personnel led by the deputy commissioner entered that Hindu area. The houses were identified in advance. There was a completely targeted attack. The Hindus living in the area did not even have a chance to recover. The army soldiers entered the houses and started beating people with sticks. The people, frightened, frightened and afraid, began to hide here and there, then the army soldiers dragged the people out of the house and threw them on the road and beat them with sticks.

What really happened was that a Muslim businessman from the Hazari Gali area had said bad things about the Hindu organization ISKCON. When his speech was uploaded to social media, the Hindu community protested in front of the Muslim businessman’s house. After this, the Hindus living in Hazari Gali locality were in trouble. The Bangladesh police and army reached there and selectively attacked the Hindus. Frightened by the brutality of the army, frightened women and children hid in some houses, then the army soldiers surrounded these houses. Hindus were asked to leave their homes. When people did not come out of their houses, the soldiers threatened to kill them by shooting in the air. Imagine what would have been the condition of the Hindus imprisoned in these houses under such circumstances?

India has expressed deep concern over the atrocities committed against Hindus in Bangladesh and has asked the Bangladesh government to protect the people of the Hindu community and take action against sectarians. Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said that the videos of attacks on Hindus that have emerged are very frightening and disturbing.

The videos of the atrocities committed against Hindus in Bangladesh are heartbreaking. What is surprising is that this time the army did this and deleted the CCTV footage to hide their actions. However, atrocities committed against Hindus in Bangladesh are nothing new. After Sheikh Hasina was removed from power, atrocities against Hindus increased. His photographs gave goosebumps. That is why Donald Trump condemned the atrocities committed against Hindus in Bangladesh during his election campaign.

Now, after Trump’s victory in the elections, silence reigns in the political corridors of Bangladesh. Some people claim that the wind has begun to change. Sheikh Hasina’s Awami League has now gained a new life, but it will take time to know how effective it will really be. As far as the atrocities committed against Hindus are concerned, now along with the government, the army is also involved. That is why it is necessary to create an environment and raise voice against it throughout the world.
