ASI and senior cop accused of demanding bribe from drug lord, case registered
Chandigarh (Aaj Samaj)The Punjab Vigilance Bureau has registered a case under the anti-graft law against CIA personnel Malout, ASI Baljinder Singh of Muktsar district and police constable Gurpreet Singh alias Gopi during the anti-graft probe. Police constable Gurpreet Singh Gopi has been arrested in this case and the search for the second accused continues. The Vigilance Bureau spokesperson said that this case was registered against the said police personnel after investigation of the complaint lodged by the complainant Balveer Singh alias Bira, a resident of Serawala village, Sri Muktsar Sahib district, on the Line of Chief Minister’s Anti-Corruption Action.
The spokesperson said that the complainant approached the Vigilance Bureau and alleged that a bribe of Rs 2 lakh 50 thousand was demanded from him for not registering a false case against him for showing fear of huge recovery of intoxicating pills and heroin and then a bribe of 60 thousand rupees. It was demanded.
In the recording presented by the complainant during the investigation, police constable Gurpreet Singh alias Gopi first demanded 2 lakh 50 thousand rupees and then demanded 60 thousand rupees and ASI Baljinder Singh clearly agreed to accept the bribe. It has been proven that both defendants were. colluding and demanding bribes. Based on this investigation report, a case has been registered against both the accused under the Anti-Corruption Act at the Vigilance Office of Bathinda Range Police Station. CIA Malott Police Officer Gurpreet Singh has been arrested and further investigation is underway. Efforts are on to arrest the second accused, Baljinder Singh, soon.
