Gopashtami 2024: Gopashtami has a special significance in the Hindu religion. On this day Lord Krishna and Mother Cow are worshiped. According to the Hindu calendar, the Gopashtami festival is celebrated on the Ashtami date of the Shukla Paksha of the Kartik month. This is a famous festival of Braj regions including Mathura and Vrindavan. In the Hindu religion it is believed that by worshiping the Mother Cow one obtains the blessings of all the gods and goddesses. Therefore, worshiping cows on this day is very auspicious and fruitful, due to which all wishes are fulfilled.

Ashtami Tithi of Gopashtami started on 8th November at 11.56pm and the Tithi will end on 9th November i.e. tonight at 10.45pm. Gopashtami is worshiped on Abhijeet Muhurta. Abhijeet Muhurta will be there from 11:43 am today until 12:26 pm. Additionally, worship can also be performed at Sarvartha Siddhi Yoga, whose timings are from 6.39 am to 11.47 am
Method of worshiping Gopashtami
On Gopashtami day, get up early in the morning, take bath and clean the temple. After this, place an image of the mother cow with her calf in the temple and light a ghee lamp. After this offer flowers. On this day, one should feed the cow with green fodder with his own hands and touch its feet. If you don’t find a cow near your house, then you can go to a stable and serve it. For puja, first of all bathe the cow and apply tilak with Roli-Chandan. Offer them flowers and offer them bhog. On this day, along with fodder, offer jaggery to the cow. This provides relief from Surya Dosha.
Importance of Gopashtami
According to Hindu mythology, Lord Krishna raised the Govardhan Hill with his little finger (little finger) on the day of Govardhan Puja to save the people of Braj from the wrath of Indra, under which all the inhabitants of Braj took shelter to save themselves from the flood. . After seven days of continuous flooding in the Braj region, Lord Indra’s anger subsided and he accepted his defeat on the day of Gopashtami.
Lord Krishna had suggested the people of Braj to stop the annual offering to Lord Indra which made Indra angry and in anger he caused heavy rains in the Braj region in which everything started flowing. But Lord Shri Krishna protected the people of Braj and all the animals there under the huge mantle of Govardhan hill for seven days. On this day there is a tradition of special worship of Mother Cow. According to the scriptures, all the gods and goddesses reside in the Mother Cow, so by worshiping her, the devotee gets the blessings of all the gods and goddesses.
