The Congress has announced its candidates for the by-elections to be held for seven assembly seats in Rajasthan. The list was released by the All India Congress Committee (AICC) late on Wednesday night. According to the list, the party has given entry to Amit Ola, son of Congress MP Brijendra Ola from Jhunjhunu. At the same time, Aryan Khan was given a ticket from the Ramgarh seat, which fell vacant after the death of his father Zubair Khan. The party has declared Deendayal Bairwa as its candidate from Dausa.
Similarly, Kastur Chand Meena, Ratan Choudhary, Mahesh Rot and Reshma Meena have been fielded from Deoli-Uniara, Khinvsar, Chorasi and Salumber respectively. Like the Lok Sabha elections, the Congress has not formed an alliance with any regional party for the by-elections.
The BJP has declared its candidates for 6 out of 7 seats. The party has not yet announced candidates for eighty-four seats.
When will the elections and results be announced?
The last date to file nominations for the by-elections is October 25. Voting for seven assembly seats (Jhunjhunu, Dausa, Deoli-Uniara, Khinvsar, Chaurasi, Salumber and Ramgarh) will be held on November 13 and the results will be declared on November 23.

Why was a by-election necessary?
Of the seven seats for which by-elections will be held in the state, four went to the Congress and one each to BJP, BAP and RLP. By-elections are being held for two seats due to the demise of sitting MLAs – Zubair Khan (Ramgarh) of Congress and Amritlal Meena (Salumbar) of BJP.
Apart from this, MLAs from the remaining five constituencies were elected MPs in the Lok Sabha elections, necessitating by-elections. Congress MLA Brijendra Ola (Jhunjhunu), Harish Chandra Meena (Deoli-Uniara), Murari Lal Meena (Dasau), Rashtriya Loktantrik Party MLA Hanuman Beniwal (Khivansar) and Bharat Adivasi Party (BAP) MLA Rajkumar Roat (Chorasi) elected this year. as an MP in the Lok Sabha elections. At present, in the 200-seat state assembly, the BJP has 114 MLAs, the Congress 65, the Bharat Adivasi Party three, the BSP two, the RLD one and eight independent MLAs.
