He further said that the complainant approached the Vigilance Bureau and alleged in his complaint that the said police officer had demanded a bribe of Rs 5,000 in return for producing records in favor of the complainant in the police case being conducted in the lower court. .
The spokesperson said that after preliminary investigation into this complaint, the Vigilance Bureau team laid a trap, in which the said police officer was caught red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 2,000 in the presence of two witnesses of the government. In this regard, a case has been registered against the police employee under the Anti-Corruption Act at the Amritsar Range Vigilance Office police station. He said the accused will be produced in court on Sunday and further investigation into the matter is underway.
