Security has been tightened due to the assembly by-elections in Rajasthan’s Alwar district. Under this, a huge amount of money was recovered during check at Sheetal Cut, located near the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway. During verification, the Excise Department team found cash worth Rs 35 lakh in a cardboard box kept in the trunk of a vehicle. The team immediately informed the District Election Officer and DST (District Special Team) about this matter after which the amount was seized and investigation was initiated.

According to information, on the instructions of the district election officer, a check post has been set up in view of the Ramgarh by-election near Sheetal Cut of the Delhi Mumbai Expressway. In this regard, the Excise Department is carrying out a special investigation campaign to stop illegal smuggling of liquor. District Excise Officer Archana Jaiman and Deputy Excise Officer Digambar Singh Dagur checked the vehicles at Sheetal Chowki.

During this time, the wads of cash were kept in a cardboard box kept in the trunk of a vehicle. When the notes were counted, they came out around Rs 35 lakh. In this regard, some questions were asked to the gardener, but he did not have answers to the questions related to money. After this, the money was confiscated. The team of district excise officer Archana Jaiman and assistant officer Digambar Singh Dagur was checking the vehicles at Sheetal Cut.

Strict investigation campaign under electoral security

The district administration has maintained strict vigil to prevent illegal activities during the elections. In Alwar district, bordering Haryana, check posts have been set up at three particular places. These checkpoints are being monitored 24 hours a day and vehicles are being checked.

District Excise Officer Archana Jaiman said that there is a possibility of smuggling of illegal liquor and money during elections, hence this step has been taken. During the check operation, Rs 1 lakh 95 thousand were also recovered from another vehicle. This money has also been confiscated and the management team is investigating this matter further.
